Practice Nursing
Practice nurses are an important
part of the clinical team at this practice. For many patients, particularly those
with chronic conditions requiring regular monitoring, practice nurses will be
the first point of call.
The nurses operate an appointments system,
but emergencies will be seen without an appointment.

District
Nurses
The district nurses care for patients in their own homes when they are too ill or frail to attend surgery. They also offer support to families and carers. They are experts in the field of wound care, leg ulcers and the care of the chronic and terminally ill. They are also happy to give advice on health matters and liaise with other agencies and services. The district nurses have the administrative support of Sue Soar and Hayley Funnell.

Health Visitors
Health visitors from the community under five team are specialist nurses who provide advice on healthcare particularly to expectant mothers, babies and young children. They can be contacted at their base at the Hollingdean Children's Centre, Brentwood on 01273 295803 and they also have regular clinics at the following:
175 Preston Road, Wednesdays 10.00 - 11.30am
Garton House, Thursdays between 9.15 and 10.30am
The health visitors are postcode-based, so please contact Diana Best and Colette Lawson (administration) who will direct you to the appropriate person.

Midwife
Jo Golding holds clinics each week to provide patients with antenatal care. Appointments in these clinics are made through the surgery.

Counsellor
A counselling service is offered to patients in the practice. Your doctor will refer you to counselling if you both think that it is appropriate. The counsellor is Jackie Gonzalez (BEd Adv Dip Counselling and Therapy, member of BAC).
We also have access to community psychiatric nurses.
NON-CLINICAL STAFF
Practice Manager And Administration
The practice manager is David Drew. He is available on 506361 to help with any questions or complaints you might have.
He is assisted by the practice co-ordinator Corinne Barnard. Stephen Knight is the systems co-ordinator and there are three medical secretaries, Liz McLarnon, Angela Samuels and Gillian Cunnington and Pauline Redfern (relief) and two administrative assistants, Carole Wilson and Emma Weal.
We also employ Sarah Mingaye, Sian Beesley, Rachael Hill, Rich Crawley, Georgie Kirby and Helen Morgan to summarise patient records onto the computer.
Receptionists
The receptionists are your first point of contact
with the practice. They are often under pressure and, while they are trained to
do a difficult job well, your patience at busy times can be greatly appreciated.
Any
information they ask you for is intended to help them assess the best way that

There are three nurses' receptionists: Jackie Hards, Linda Chapman and Christine Hargrove.
There are five relief receptionists: Doreen Broomfield, Yvonne Raynsford, Isobel Davies, Linda Fogden and Kate Morrison.
Other members of the reception team include Linda Scroggins, Juliet Bartley and Christine Hargrove at Islingword Road and Naomi Newth at the University.
Training
Doctors:
Occasionally the practice will host newly qualified doctors and GP Registrars (qualified doctors undergoing training in general practice procedures).
Medical Students:
To promote their training, the practice is frequently visited by medical students from the Medical School, Patients do not have to be seen at a consultation in the presence of a medical student if they do not wish to.
